it's a wonderful life

As I told you before, yesterday I went to the seaside. It was lovely. The beach was empty so we got to take some photos and leave Dex run freely on the sand.

Today I finally stayed home and watched 3 or 4 movies, read and drank a lot of hot tea. Speaking of movies, I saw "It's a wonderful life", Frank Capra's well-known film. It was amazing. I wasn't expecting to fell in love with this movie, but I did. I think I'll see it every Christmas and learn every line that made me smile. Now I'll just leave you with my favourite part of the movie while I go watch "Edward Scissorhands":

this post has nothing to do with Christmas

Today, I went to the countryside with my family and spent most of my time talking, laughing and listening to great music that has nothing to do with Christmas.

Tomorrow, I'm going to the seaside, hoping to find the beach empty and take some nice photos. I love doing things that nobody does for Christmas!

yesterday, my boyfriend bought me this amazing ring
                                      that I absolutely love

                              Have a jolly Christmas!

Good Times

I can finally say I'm on holiday. The first semester has gone by pretty fast, hasn't it? It seems as though yesterday was September 15 and I was anxious to meet my new classmates. For the past weeks I've been sick and spent most of my time in my room, watching awesome tv shows and breathtaking movies .

                                         I love staying indoors.

Given that I had a lot of free time,I finished reading 'Fight Club'.When I started reading it, I didn't know what to expect.I thought that if I had already seen the movie,I wouldn't enjoy as much. Man,was I wrong! It was wonderful.I took a lot of notes such as: "There will be mistakes, and maybe the point is not to forget the rest of yourself if one little part might go bad.", "There are a lot of things we don't want to know about the people we love.", "Marla's philosophy of life, she told me, is that she can die at any moment. The tragedy of her life is that she doesn't." and spent quite some time thinking about the things that Palahniuk wrote.

One day, we went for a walk
and spent time in the park talking and watching the reindeers.

and I tried to be serious
but as you can see that was an epic fail.

I have a lot of plans for this holiday. I want to read Stieg Larsson's 2nd volume 'The Girl Who Played With Fire', watch a lot of movies, including 'A Dangerous Method', David Cronenberg's new masterpiece, spend time with my family and friends, go ice skating and eat tons of soup.

              Currently obsessing over this song:

special day with the family

Yesterday,we celebrated our National Day. My family and I wanted to do something nice,so we visited a part of Romania that we hadn't seen before and finished our day at a traditional restaurant where we ate great food and listened to old Romanian songs.

although December is already here,I can still wear
shorts without freezing.true story.

Dexter was very excited to be out in the wild. He ran until he couldn't breathe and then some more.

On our way back, while Dex slept like a baby, we listened to Alanis Morissette and made plans for our next trips. You can check out more photos on my tumblr account.

This old Romanian song has always cheered me up :

I'm 18,I get confused every day

Last week I celebrated my 18th anniversary. I spent a nice day with my family ( and no,I'm not ironic,it was really nice ) and complained about being older.

I always thought that when I'll be 18 years old,I will be mature and live alone but I still feel like a kid. And that's nice, isn't it?!

On another topic,my boyfriend and I found our special place. It's a little pub that's always empty and where we can drink amazing wine and eat soup (I love soup.I really think that soup is my favourite food in the whole universe).

Until now, this week has been pretty good. I got to stay home and study for my exams. Of course that I planned to study all day long but I ended up studying between 2 episodes of  Community.

So, with 'Fight Club' on my Kindle, waiting to be read, with special days spent in empty bars, with a wonderful boyfriend and amazing friends, I can say that right now my life seems to be on the right track. Everytime I remember last year and the nasty things that happened I can feel nothing but gratitude for what I have today.

Lately,I've been obsessed with this song sent by a good friend:

Currently inspired by:

“I will remember your small room, the feel of you, the light in the window, your records, your books, our morning coffee, our noons, our nights, our bodies spilled together, sleeping, the tiny flowing currents, immediate and forever. Your leg, my leg, your arm, my arm, your smile and the warmth of you who made me laugh again.
                                                                              Charles Bukowksi

the Internet is a shitty book that I can't put down

I know I haven't written a lot lately but my days are filled with school and studying for school. I'm sure you know what it's like to wake up at the crack of dawn to finish (or, in my case, start ) studying for a Math Test.
The weather has been pretty nice these past days. I wore a lot of dresses and skirts and although every single person that saw me asked me if I wasn't cold, I felt incredible.I love wearing dresses!

                                                          *

This week I received a present from my sister: a Kindle. I've wanted to have one ever since it appeared so I was pretty happy.

Hope you guys have a nice weekend!

I'm the hero of the story, don't need to be saved

I'm pretty sure I've already told you that I love "500 Days of Summer". So today I spent half of my time searching for photos, quotes and songs from the movie.

This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he’d never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie ‘The Graduate’. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parents’ marriage she’d only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and feel nothing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront—this is not a love story.

" People don't realize this, but loneliness is underrated."

" Did you ever do this, you think back on all the times you've had with someone and you just replay it in your head over and over again and you look for those first signs of trouble?"

"I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps."

                                        *
" I hate her crooked teeth. I hate her 1960s haircut. I hate her knobby knees. I hate her cockroach-shaped splotch on her neck. I hate the way she smacks her lips before she talks. I hate the way she sounds when she laughs."

" - Nobody loves Ringo Starr.
                      - That's what I love about him."

What a great scene that was! I sure hope I've convinced at least one of you to watch the movie. It was so beautifully written and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel  were chosen so well that I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Summer or Tom.

             My rating: 9/10

you mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling

The past few days have been great. I've met with good friends, read another book by Haruki Murakami, saw a couple of great movies ( if you haven't seen 'Girl,Interrupted' yet, watch it asap ) and discovered a bunch of songs that have been on repeat ever since.

There's nothing better than going out for a drink with your friends,is it?!

This week,Louise,a good friend came home from France and she brought my sister and I a magnet for our cow-collection. It was pretty nice to see her and listen to all her funny stories while eating pizza and drinking cold beer.

Also,I haven't got the chance to tell you that this week my boyfriend and I celebrated our 15 months anniversary. Yes,we're that kind of couple that counts every second spent together.

And since I'm sure you've missed Dexter, I wanted to show you his daily face. Yup,that's right. He smiles like that for no reason whatsoever.

                                                              *

One of those songs that I was telling you about is this:

about a bag of fries

You can definitely say autumn has arrived in my town. One can only wish all days would be like today: not too hot but not too cold either. After spending the past week freezing under 3 sweaters,I felt a little bit blessed when I was able to go out with only a scarf and a cape.
I've also got to complain about another thing that happened to me a few days ago.I was robbed! For the first time! And you wouldn't guess what those little bastards stole: a bag of fries from McDonald's.I mean seriously.I would kind of understand if someone stole my phone or my wallet. But a bag of fries?! Jesus! I felt really ashamed that I have to live in this country. But I decided that as soon as I finish my studies I am out of here!

about weather and 'Moulin Rouge'

My reaction to this week's weather was:

...and please don't be fooled by my big, fake smile. I was FREEZING! Autumn is already here and although I was happy to wear other clothes, I am almost wishing for summer to come back.

                                                         *

I don't know if I've told you until now,but I like Ewan McGregor a lot.And I think it started when I was watching this scene from 'Moulin Rouge' :

i heart you

I'm always searching for inspiration. Every day I spend hours on the Internet or reading, hoping to find something more about life, about myself, about fashion or design. You get the point. So yesterday I started searching for photos with hearts. And look what I found :

                                    ( via iambetterinmyroom )

Isn't that a great idea of displaying your photos ? I have a lot of photos on my doors or on my walls but I never thought of giving them a nice shape.

                                 ( via katiewonders.tumblr.com )

This is also a great way of decorating an old door. I've always loved the old-new combination!

                  Lovely necklace!

a perfect day

Is there anything better than going out with your friends, having fun, wasting time, sitting on the grass and taking photos? I don't think so!

After spending the last week studying for my exams,I've decided that a day spent in the park would be a great solution for relaxing and going back to my zen mood.

I like the fact that everytime we go out I find out about a lot of books that go immediately on my to-read list.By the way,if you don't know  http://www.goodreads.com/, you should check it out. It's a great site where you can make lists with all the books that you've read or with the ones that you plan on reading.

After spending a few hours in the park,we went for a glass of wine (yum!) at a nice bar, Fat Cat,where we listened to a lot of good, good music.

I was a little bit sad that I didn't have my camera with me,but even the crappy iphone pictures are a nice reminder of the great day that we spent together. I can't wait to go there again today with tib.

lately

My life has been pretty good lately. I've moved to a better highschool where I have classmates that I could actually talk to, I've started reading the "1001 books you must read before you die" and I've tried to have a zen attitude towards my life in this not-so-lovely city. And,believe it or not,it kinda works. Also, the fact that all my favourite tv shows started last week is a big help.I can't wait to see what happens with Castiel, how Elena and Damon's relationship is going to evolve, when will Derek stop being a jerk to Meredith and other things that I'd rather be doing than studying for my tests.

The September Issue

As you might have discovered until now,I am somewhat of a freak when it comes to movies. I love watching movies. All kinds of them. So I have to tell you about this last movie that I saw: The September Issue.

"The September Issue" is actually a documentary that revolves around the famous Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine. It shows how a number of the magazine is created: the hard work that everyone does, the creativity that you need to have in order to work in fashion and all the other not-so-bright aspects of a life that seems almost perfect on screen.

Before seeing the movie,I didn't really like Anna Wintour.I didn't know much about her,but she seemed like a cold woman, always hiding behind those black sunglasses. After watching "The September Issue",I started liking her a lot.I got to understand her perspective and to respect the fact that she doesn't need to impress anyone.
So,I would advise anyone who's interested in fashion to watch this documentary not only because you'll get to see the glamour that surrounds a magazine, but you'll also understand more about the struggle that takes place behind the scenes.

        My rating: 7/10

My favourite quote: "Fashion's not about looking back. It's always about looking forward."
